Patternpeople : Print inspiration - Paint Strokes

Painterly prints seem to be everywhere in the Resort 10 collections. The top image features prints that are ethereal and watercolory in nature. The middle image is a collection of prints with a more scratchy dry brush technique, and the bottom image shows painted stripes, some graphic and some a bit softer. Michael Kors' take is borrowed from the 60s, while Diane von Furstenberg and Narcisco Rodriquez seem to be referencing the 80s. Some of the soft watercolor prints start to take on a 90's grunge aesthetic. Also interesting to note is how the trend seems to be spanning across such different fashion houses, from Helmut Lang to Michael Kors to Oscar de la Renta.
